Our Family’s experience with Type 1 Diabetes

Whether it's Aussie rules or cricket, Mitch loves playing sport! Mitch was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was just 15 months old. In this story, we spoke to Mitch and his mum Alicia, about Mitch's experience with T1D and how he manages his glucose levels when at home or away, and what support networks they have in place to assist their families journey with diabetes.

Striving to be Within Target: T1D and AFL

Sam believes that T1D doesn’t need to hold you back from accomplishing your dreams. In 2007, Sam debuted in professional AFL for the Western Bulldogs, and since then has gone from competing on the field to fatherhood. In 2020, Sam upgraded from Dexcom G5 Mobile to Dexcom G6 to monitor and manage his diabetes.

Verity is off to the Grand Final!

Verity has been playing professional netball since debuting in 2012. Currently, she plays for West Coast Fever and is due to play in the Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final this year on October 18, 2020! Verity also lives with type 1 diabetes, and uses Dexcom G6 to manage her levels on and off the court.

Sarah, Netball and Type 1 Diabetes

Sarah plays professional netball for the NSW Swifts and the national Australian Diamonds! She's being living with type 1 diabetes since 2017, but doesn't let that affect her game on or off the court.
