Control-IQ Technology for the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump Launches in Australia

April 2022 – AMSL Diabetes is excited to announce the launch of Control-IQ™ technology for the t:slim X2™ insulin pump!

The t:slim X2 insulin pump (compatible with Dexcom G6 continuous glucose monitoring) is capable of remote feature updates.^* Recently, we welcomed the newest software to launch within Australia; Control-IQ.

Control-IQ technology is an advanced hybrid closed-loop technology that helps to keep glucose levels in range^{^} (3.9 to 10 mmol/L) by predicting glucose levels 30 minutes ahead and adjusting insulin delivery according, to help prevent both high and low glucose events.

You can expect the same features from the t:slim X2 insulin pump with Control-IQ technology, such as the large colour touchscreen, slim design, rechargeable battery and micro-delivery™ technology.  Plus the following NEW features: 

• NEW Automatic Insulin Adjustments – Based on readings from Dexcom G6 CGM^†
• NEW Correction Boluses – Delivering automatic correction boluses (up to one an hour) to help prevent hyperglycaemia^‡
• NEW Activity Settings – Optional settings for Sleep and Exercise that adjust range of treatment values for more control

For existing t:slim X2 insulin pump users, you will receive communication from AMSL Diabetes with more information with your steps to updating your pump software.

For individuals who wish to start pumping, the t:slim X2 insulin pump can now also be purchased with Control-IQ software installed. We would recommend speaking to your healthcare professional to start this process.

‡If glucose values are predicted to be above 10.0 mmol/L, Control-IQ technology calculates a correction bolus using the Personal Profile settings and a target of 6.1 mmol/L and delivers 60% of that value. An Automatic Correction Bolus will not occur within 60 minutes of a bolus that has been delivered or cancelled.
